Hello, proficient reader of the English language!
How are you? It’s me, TJ, the comedian.
Being a Haitian in America is strange because we’re not that big of a group in this country (with about 730k Haitian immigrants, we’re a whopping 0.2% of the US population), but every election season we get in the news for something pretty ridiculous. In 2016, we were the infamous shithole country. Now, we are...well, you know why we’re in the news now.
It’s a weird position for a comedian. My job is to be funny. Everything else is secondary. But every once in a while, I can use that job to do something bigger than just being funny. For the past 7 years, I’ve been using comedy to raise money for a non-profit called Nova Hope For Haiti that provides medical care in a southern town named Cavaillon. I’m very proud of it. I know these people personally and love the work that they do.
This year’s benefit will be held on Saturday, October 5th at Littlefield in Brooklyn. All proceeds go to Nova to pay for staff salary in Haiti. I can promise you a great night out, and you’ll do it knowing your money goes to an excellent cause. Please join us by getting your tickets HERE
That’s all for now.
See you soon.
Love,
Teej
